Creating Monthly Memories: Our KL Family Outing Wishlist (Sept–Dec 2025)

As parents, we often find ourselves juggling between work, home, and responsibilities. Sometimes, without realizing it, days and weeks pass by in a blur. That’s why I’ve started to embrace the idea of making family outings a monthly tradition—a way to pause, connect, and create little pockets of joy with my son.

For the last four months of 2025, I’ve put together a simple wishlist of places in Kuala Lumpur that we’ll explore together. Each outing is chosen with a purpose: to discover, to learn, and to spend meaningful time as a family.

September – Zoo Negara

September will be all about animals and nature. At Zoo Negara, my son will finally get to see penguins for the first time. I can already picture his excitement watching them waddle and swim. Beyond that, there are also giant pandas, giraffes, and many more fascinating creatures.

Visiting a zoo isn’t just about looking at animals—it’s about teaching children compassion, awareness of the natural world, and the importance of conservation. And of course, it’s also about having a fun day outdoors.

October – Petrosains, The Discovery Centre

October will take us indoors, into the world of science and discovery at Petrosains. From dinosaurs to rockets, the exhibits are designed to spark curiosity and make learning hands-on.

I love the idea of my son touching, experimenting, and asking endless “why” questions. Outings like these show that learning doesn’t have to be confined to classrooms or textbooks—it can happen through play, imagination, and discovery.

November – Aquaria KLCC

In November, we’ll dive into the underwater world at Aquaria KLCC. The highlight will be the famous underwater tunnel, where sharks and stingrays glide above as if we’re walking on the ocean floor.

Aquariums are such a calming yet magical experience for children. They get to see marine life up close, which builds appreciation for creatures they’d otherwise only see in books or videos.

December – National Planetarium

To close the year, December will be dedicated to the stars at the National Planetarium. It feels symbolic—to end the year by looking up at the vast universe and dreaming big. The exhibits, theatre shows, and even space station models will hopefully ignite his imagination about space and the future.

Why I Treasure Monthly Outings

Looking at this plan, it’s clear that each month brings something new—animals, science, marine life, and space. It’s not just about visiting places, but about weaving memories and learning into our family story.

Monthly outings don’t always have to be grand. Sometimes a simple picnic, a playground visit, or even a morning walk together is enough. What matters is the rhythm—the act of setting aside time, every month, to be fully present with our children.

Because in the end, what stays with them isn’t the ticket stubs, but the laughter, discoveries, and the love that surrounded those moments. 💕
