I actually secured the domain some time ago, but due to technical issues, I couldn’t use it for my blog. I initially purchased the domain through WordPress, but since I couldn’t afford the monthly fees, I had to let it go. It took several months of waiting before WordPress finally released it and I grabbed the opportunity the moment it became available again.
This might seem like a small thing to some, but for me, it’s a huge personal milestone. As someone who’s passionate about sharing stories of motherhood, working life, and living as a Borneo woman in West Malaysia, having a domain that truly represents who I am feels incredibly empowering.
Now, when I write my bio or update my social media, I proudly say:
"I’m Aya of borneoworkingmom.com" , no more blogspot and it feels so real and professional, haha!
I bought the domain with my hard-earned money from doing TikTok affiliate marketing. I paid RM56 for a one-year registration on GoDaddy, and I really hope I can renew it for the next five years so I don’t have to worry about it long term.
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with using blogspot it served me well but owning my own domain gives me fresh energy and confidence to take my blog to the next level.
Having my own space online, with a proper name and identity, motivates me to dream bigger. And while nothing drastically changes overnight, I am more determined than ever to keep growing and improving, for myself and for all the working moms out there.
On this platform, I’ll continue to:
