5 Simple Hacks That Save Me Time Every Weekday as a Working Mom

Hi friends,

As a working mom, I’ve learned that tiny habits can make a huge difference. Mornings used to feel like chaos when someone crying because they can’t find socks (sometimes me 😅), keys lost, coffee spilled.

Over time, I’ve found a few small things that genuinely save me time (and sanity) every weekday. I hope they’ll help you too.

1. Prep outfits for the week on Sunday

On Sunday nights, I take 10 minutes to lay out five work outfits on one side of my wardrobe, I make sure all its ironed, complete with accessories. I do the same for my child’s school clothes. As for my husband's clothes, I am grateful his company has own uniform so no need to prepare it everyday, I will just prepare the 5 clothes every week.

It means no more staring blankly into the closet at 6:30 am, or realizing their uniform is still in the laundry.

Bonus tip: Check the weather forecast when you do this. No surprises on rainy mornings!

2. Keep a “launch pad” basket by the door

We have a simple basket by the door where we drop keys, my work ID, my child’s water bottle & school bag. In the morning, everything is in one place.

It sounds small, but it saves us from running around the house shouting, “Where’s your bag? Where are my car keys?!”

3. Set up small auto-orders

For essentials like toilet paper, toothpaste, snacks, baby wipes, I use online stores that allow scheduled deliveries. It’s one less thing to remember, and it keeps us from those stressful late-night grocery runs after work.

Small automation = big mental relief.

4. Do a 10-minute night reset

Before bed, we do a quick 10-minute cleanup:
✔️ Clear the living room
✔️ Load or run the dishwasher
✔️ Prep tomorrow’s lunchboxes or snacks

I set a timer. It keeps it short, and I wake up to a more peaceful home. (Trust me, future-you will thank you.)

5. Keep a running to-do list on your phone

Instead of trying to remember everything in my already overloaded brain, I keep a simple note in Google Keep. School fees due? Friend’s birthday? Need to buy vitamins? It all goes there.

My mind can rest, and I don’t forget important stuff amidst work meetings and motherhood.

Final thoughts

None of these are groundbreaking, but together they take a little pressure off my busy mornings (and evenings).

As working moms, we carry a lot so we deserve every tiny hack that makes life smoother.

If you have your own time-saving tricks, I’d LOVE to hear them. Leave a comment or hit reply if you’re reading this in my newsletter. Let’s help each other make this juggle just a bit easier.

With love,

Aya
