Avocado Picking Day at Kampung: From Tree to KL

One of the highlight moment when we going back to kampung last week was we went to avocado picking. It's seems simple but for me, it's  more meaningful than expected. My in law ada kebun avocado and this time memang musim dia so we take this opportunity untuk picking up and sell it at KL.

We  opened pre-order because we wanted to bring these kampung avocados all the way back to KL for family and friends. And honestly, that made the whole experience feel even more special.

More Than Just Avocado Picking

The avocado tree stood tall, filled with green fruits hanging quietly among the leaves. This time, we weren’t just picking for fun. We were picking with intention, making sure we had enough, choosing the good ones, thinking about the people who were waiting for these avocados back in KL.

We used simple tools, long sticks, carefull coordination and a lot of "eh jatuh! jatuh sana!" moments Some of us focused on reaching the fruits, some gathered below. It was teamwork. Penat sikit, but penuh gelak tawa.

Avocado Sabah: Fresh, Besar & Memang Lain

One thing I will always say, avocado Sabah memang lain macam. It's bigger in size, creamy and rich and fresh from the tree(this one memang game changer).

When you know these avocados are going straight from kampung to KL…you appreciate them differently.Tak sama macam beli di supermarket. This one, ada effort, ada cerita.

Kebaikan Avocado

After all the work, memang rasa berbaloi. Because avocado is not just sedap, but also very good for our body. It's good fats for heart health, keeps you full longer(very helpful for busy days) and rich in nutrients for skin and energy.

So when we opened pre-order, it wasn’t just about selling or sharing…It was about giving something fresh, natural, and nourishing to people we care about.

From Kampung Effort to City Life

While packing the avocados, I had this thought…

In KL, everything is easy. Just go to the store, pick and pay. But here in kampung, every avocado has a process, wait for it to grow, pick it yourself, carry it home and sort and prepare. Suddenly, something as simple as an avocado feels so valuable.

A Reflection as a Working Mom

As a working mom, life in the city can feel very structured and fast. But this experience reminded me of something important:

Sometimes, it’s okay to slow down even when you are working towards something.

This avocado picking day was productive(because of pre-order), meaningful(because we did it together) and memorable(because it felt real). It’s not always about choosing between “work” and “life”.

Sometimes… it can be both.

What started as a simple plan to fulfill pre-orders, turned into a day full of laughter, effort, and connection. From a tree in kampung to homes in KL…Each avocado carried a little bit of our time, energy, and memories. And for me, that’s something really special.
